All of what we had planned to train folks during neighborhood walkabouts has now become VIRTUALIZED and with social distancing, we are doing things a little differently.
Tree Mapping can be done solo, with a partner or with your kids as a family activity when you go out to get some air. When things get back to normal we will have outdoor gatherings again, promise !
But for now, its all about a 3-step process to get this JC Tree Mapping Census off the ground -
1. Register for Online WebEx Training ( A Primer On The Importance Of Urban Tree Canopy Health + Learn How To Use The OpenTreeMap On Your Smartphone )
2. Sign Up Process To Become A Tree Mapper (Tree Census Registry Sign-Up For Your Neighborhood)
3. Online Text GroupMe App To Stay In Touch With Your Neighborhood Captain ( You Will Be Sent This Info Right After The July 9th WebEx Training In Your Welcome Email With Other Instructions To Get Started )
Neighborhood Captains Will Then Guide You Through The Tree Inventory Process To Record GPS Locations Of Trees, Tree Metrics, Tree Health Data, And Tree Species ID Photos - It's Fun and A Great Way To Participate In A Climate Change Action Project For Jersey City.

You Will Be Helping To Accomplish A Major Climate Change Impact Initiative For Jersey City
• In Addition To Helping Sustainable Jersey City On A Quality Of Life Project For JC Neighborhoods, You Are Advancing An Important Crowdsourced Data Collection Effort That Will Help To Manage The Restoration Of The Jersey City Tree Canopy.

The Goal Is To Initiate Block By Block Mapping Efforts, In Neighborhoods Across The City Over The Next Two Seasons To Complete The JC Tree Census !
