Please join us for a discussion of composting systems including Bokashi style composting, a Japanese method of recycling food waste by means of fermentation. As part of the workshop we will be making the bokashi starter, a microbe-activated wheat bran responsible for the fermentation process.
You will learn ways to integrate this microbe rich resource into your traditional composting systems / garden landscapes and backyards as well as insightful lessons on the importance of healthy microbes and the role they play in our lives.
Gardeners, Residents, Parents & Kids - EVERYONE interested in learning about how to recycle your food scraps are welcome - get your questions answered about starting a composting system in your garden and the Bokashi low-labor approach to recycling food waste! The hands on Bokashi Starter making is a great activity for kids - they love it!
Information will be available on the Bokashi Garden Exchange program at P.E.A.C.E. Community Garden. Bucket kits and Starter will also be on sale!
