SJC BLOG
GRACE Meets TRUTH ~
/I've crowed about the GRACE Communications Foundation before as they are my all time FAVORITE resource to point at when I'm talking about the 'S' word. These folks have the most accessible conversation out there on the interconnections between Food, Energy & Water and their Eco News and Ecocentric blogposts always shed light on new developments and create a deeper understanding for me around topics I'm already familiar with. Check out their latest Eco News issue and check out range of topics including coverage of the new Growing Cities documentary to Freshwater Shortage Projections (includes NJ) to fabulous Farmstr FARMERS DIRECT to update on BEES to Family Stuff - and oh yes, one of my favorite topics, Food Waste Recycling.

Community Crowd-Resourcing For Your Projects !!
/The Citizenry of Jersey City generates the CHANGES THEY WANT TO SEE for their neighborhoods !! SJC's partnership with ioby.org is a support system for making things happen. This crowd-resourcing platform brings funding, volunteers, and all kinds of sponsorship to neighborhood projects and citywide initiatives. Once you think about a project and get organized, SJC will help you to launch it.
Just remember though - this is YOUR PROJECT and there is a lot of work to get it ready to go onto our platform. You need to have a team in place to make it happen and we suggest you take a reality check before, during and even after your project is launched for it to be sustainable.
Two projects launched this week - yeah !! Donations Needed !!

Help Fight Climate Change In Our Own Community...!
/The one thing about climate change we can be sure of, is that we need to act, and at that, act locally...! Sustainable JC is proud to collaborate with the Sierra Club, and with the Honorable Mayor Steven Fulop, to present ways in which we can act constructively. Come see an episode of the ground-breaking show Years of Living Dangerously, and find out what YOU can do, to change things by acting locally.
Heat waves, flooding, storm surges and polar vortexes. New Jersey is experiencing the impacts of climate change now and it’s only going to get worse if we don’t take action to reduce carbon pollution.
Fortunately, the EPA is announcing new limits on the amount of climate disrupting carbon pollution that coal plants are allowed to release into the air! The fossil fuel industry is putting up a lot dirty money to prevent the EPA from doing its job. The only way to fight coal industry opposition and allow the EPA to do its job is to show nationwide support. That means they need YOU! Join the Sierra Club and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, in collaboration with Sustainable Jersey City, to learn how you can support the EPA's new limts on carbon pollution make 2014 a year of climate action!
