Government Relations

SJC is committed to working more closely with municpal officials to make Jersey City a more sustainable place to live and work.  In 2011 our Environmental Commission passed a Resolution acknowledging us as the Community Green Team and in that capacity we are focused on delivering  thoughtful programs to different stakeholder groups with an eye toward greater collaboration amongst citizens and community groups interested in this same Mission.  Last year for Earth Day 2012 we launched the SJC Charter which grows in signatures each week, including those of municipal officials.

Inspired by the 2013 Mayoral elections we have renewed our commitment to work in partnership with the new administration and have offered this Sustainability Action Plan to Mayor Steven Fulop and the new City Council for discussion.  SJC is already working on a number of related initiatives listed on our Projects menu and we look forward to implementing broader opportunities as we link up these Projects with each other, bring additional resources to bear and work with our Regional Partners in collaboration with City Hall.
